Councel-Circel Practice:

This age-old Transforming practice involves bringing people together in a circle to bear witness and share authentically.

-Genno Roshi-
“Our practice is to let oneself be completely penetrated by the present moment, so we are in accord with things as they are and respond freely to what is.”
DANA SANGHA PARIS
Dana was founded in the Paris suburb of Montreuil in 1994 by Roshi Catherine Genno Pagès, a lineage holder in the Soto school, to offer regular Zen teaching and meditation in an urban setting. Its members form a community of lay practitioners who honor the integrity of the ancient Zen tradition while integrating the practice into daily, modern life. Catherine Genno Pagès Roshi is the first dharma heir of the American Zen master Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi, who is a successor of the late Taizan Maezumi Roshi, founder of the Zen Center of Los Angeles.
LINEAGE
The white plum lineage was established by Taizan Maezumi Roshi Our modern day founder of our Lineage.
Hakuyu Taizan Maezumi, Roshi (1931-1995), was abbot of the Zen Center of Los Angeles (ZCLA) and had a strong influence on the growth of Zen Buddhism in the United States and Europe. He received Dharma transmission from Hakujun Kuroda Roshi, in 1955. He also received approval as a teacher from Koryu Osaka Roshi and Hakuun Yasutani Roshi, and so was Dharma holder in three Zen lineages (Soto, Shakyamuni-Kai and Sanbo-Kyodan). He came to the United states in 1956 and there eventually founded ZCLA, giving Dharma transmission to twelve successors.
